Dark Chocolate is wonderful for health

Wisdom about dark chocolate.

Read an interesting article titled, Daily chocolate by keep the heart doctor away by Denise Mann today. Article was published on CNN on March 30, 2010.

Mann reported on a study conducted by Brian Buijsse in Germany. Buijsse found that dark chocolate was healthier compared to milk chocolate or white chocolate.

Pardon my bias, but dark chocolate is my favorite. Think it taste wonderful with a cup of coffee.

Amazingly study showed that people who ate chocolate about twice per week were about 48% less likely to have a heart attack or stroke compared to those who rarely ate chocolate.

Finally some research I can live with. Have heard about other research studies reporting health benefits for dark chocolate.

Of course, this reminds me of the old motto, "too much of a good thing isn't good." My personal warning is for people to not take this information and over-eat chocolate. Reminds me of another motto, beleive this one is in the Bible, "honey is good, but too much of it will make a person sick."

Hal Urban's NEW book

Hal Urban is the author of many books, including his new one:
Lessons from the Classroom: 20 Things Good Teachers Do.
Very pleased to say that Hal Urban is going to review my upcoming book on being nice.
Urban had sent me a pdf flyer for his new book and asked me to share it with others.
Regret to say I was unable to upload the pdf flyer.
So, I copied and pasted the main points from the flyer to help spread the word here:

“If future teachers and those already in
the classroom were to read one book
to help them become the best teacher
they could be, they could do no better
than Lessons from the Classroom
20 Things Good Teachers Do
.
There’s wisdom, inspiration, and nutsand-
bolts guidance on every page.”

Dr. Thomas Lickona
Author, Educating For Character

“I can think of no book that I
would recommend more highly to
an experienced or novice teacher. It is
simply the best one I’ve ever read for
the teacher who wants to perform
at the highest level, and help his
or her students do the same.”
Dr. Phil Vincent
Author, Restoring School Civility

“This is just plain wonderful! It’s a
one-of-a-kind teaching manual that
shows us some of the important
things teachers can do to make
a difference in their students’
lives... I hope every teacher
in the country reads it and
applies these valuable lessons.

Cinema Therapy - 17 Again Movie Review

Cinema Therapy is the use of movies for therapeutic and healing. Movies can be inspirational, too. Many movies can be more than just entertainment.

Believe “17 Again” could be of inspiration for people. It is one of my favorite movies. Fortunate to have seen it at the movie theater in 2009. Meant to have written a review of it shortly after seeing it, but it had slipped my mind.

It is currently on television tonight.

It reminds me of a modern day version of “It’s a wonderful life” with maybe a twist of “13 going on 30.”

“It’s a wonderful life” was one of the movies I had reviewed in the chapter on inspirational/ cinema therapy movies in my book, “Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom.”

Here I’ll give you a quick review of “17 Again:”

Main character Mike is separated from his wife. His children aren’t talking to him. Things at work aren’t going well. Mike is basically depressed with the state of his life.

Mike returns to his high school to reminisce the good ol’ days. In high school, Mike was a basketball all-start. He could have earned a scholarship to play basketball for a major college Mike discovers his high school girlfriend (soul mate), Scarlett is pregnant. Mike decides to leave basketball behind to marry his girlfriend.

The custodian is like the guardian angle in “It’s a wonderful life.” The custodian gives Mike a chance to go back to the age of 17 and do it all over again, however, he didn’t go back in time to 1989. He only became “17 again.”

In “It’s a wonderful life,” the guardian angle shows George Baily how different life would be without him there. In “17 Again” the custodian “guardian angle” shows Mike how different life would be without him, too.

Here is the big question:

Does Mike make different choices? Or, does he remake the same choices he had made the first time?

Don’t want to give away any spoilers. You’ll have to watch it to discover what happens for yourself.

The custodian, a.k.a. spiritual guide, a.k.a. guardian angle smiles at the choice Mike makes.

Here is a youtube preview for the movie:
Decide if you want to watch it:

Get it on DVD

Get it on Blue Ray

Self-esteem/ Cinema Therapy for Adults

Watched the movie, “She’s out of your league” today at the movie theater.

Believe this movie could help build self-esteem for adults.
Deeper moral or lesson is buried in this comedy.
Want to keep the good parts of the movie a secret so you can enjoy it.
Can tell you that the basic lesson from the movie includes: are that all people are important.

You are an important person, too. You must have faith. And you must believe in yourself. Go for your dreams.

As you may recall from my best-selling book, “Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom,” there was a full chapter on obtaining inspiration from movies. Also known as: Cinema Therapy. Think adults with self-esteem issues or those who are still dating could enjoy this movie and find its moral useful. Had left the theater smiling myself.

Please be advised that some parts of the movie could be offensive to people. It is a comedy.

Here is a youtube preview for the movie so you could determine if it may be of interest to you:

Charity

My goal for this week is to write at least 10 letters to seek a partnership with a charity. Want part of the proceeds from my upcoming book, "Amazing Advice" to go to a non-profit.

Here is the Monday Journal Question:

Favorite Charity? Please post your favorite charity. Want to form a partnership with a good charity for proceeds from my new book. First charity didn’t work out. So – tell me who or what group is nice. Thanks, Danny.

Here are what my facebook friends have said so far:

Chantelle Clyburn Harrah
I am all about St Judes. I could go on for hours about why, but in my eyes that's just one charity that is really taking 100% of what you give, and giving 100% of themselves in return.

Jennifer DavisWalton
St. Jude's is Great, also partial to Alzheimer's Association & Diabetes Association. Good luck! Great idea!

Heifer International is great -they give livestock and education to people worldwide who live in poverty, so that they can break the cycle. I always had my students doing a read-a-thon during March to support HI. I worked for the Arthritis Foundation in Arizona, and they're pretty awesome as well. Arthritis isn't as "popular" a disease as say cancer, but it affects a huge number of people.....my mom being one of them. There's my two-cents' worth! :-)

Kari Kensinger
why not give to hospital that employs a rec therapist

Amanda Spaulding
It's not in WV but Special Kids of Tennessee (in Murfreesboro). They're a non-proffit. They provide occupational, physical, speech and I believe some recreational therapy for special needs children. I used to volunteer there and love them! They're an amazing group of people! :o) they have a facebook page if you want to check them out.

Movie Rental Stores Are Going Obsolete.

Felt upset that the Movie Gallery in my hometown area went out of business last year.
Since then three local Blockbusters have went out of business. These included: South Point, Ohio, downtown Huntington, W.Va. and Rt. 60 in Huntington.

Went to the Movie Gallery in Kentucky, which is right across the Big Sandy River in the Huntington, W.Va. area.

Told the manager that I was shocked that nobody was in there on a Friday night. There were no customers. The manager laughed and said the store was having a good night because they brought in $600 in sales for the night. Felt shocked at comment because I’d imagine a store like that should be making about $600 an hour.

Returned today to find giant, bright “Closing Soon” signs… Everything must go.

This is very disappointing because I love movie rental stores.

However, I realize that it is a tough business. People can rent movies from their home now with technology. They can use netflix and have videos sent to their home, which I imagine netflix may be the next to go.

People can buy DVDs at Wal-mart for $5 in the large bin. Some of these movies are fairly new based on my experiences. Some of these movies were released within the last year or two.

Purchased a few classic, rare DVDs that were on sale there. These included: To kill a mocking bird, Gandhi, teacher Ron Clark Story, one on the Reagans, and Uptown Girls. As you'll remember from my best-selling book, Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom, I recommend Cinema-therapy/ watching movies to learn ways to become great. Think there are some good lessons from these movies and they're worth watching again.

Didn’t need any DVDs, but felt an urge to spend today when I should have saved.

Maybe I would have been one of the children who would have eaten one marshmallow now instead of waiting for two marshmallows later. Will work on patience.

Worried about the employees at this Movie Gallery. These feelings intensified when I logged online to find a story that Blockbuster may file bankruptcy. The end of the “Blockbuster-era” is near. I absolutely love my job and what I do to help children. I’d be devastated if something happened to our hospital or facility or if I were laid-off or fired for any reason.

Change is inventible. Things will be different in the future. My professor in graduate school, Dr. Bryan McCormick had once said, “Luck favors the prepared.” Highly encourage people to prepare today.

Dr. Raymond Busbee was one of the professors who I had during undergraduate school at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Busbee was the academic advisor for students in Parks Resources and Leisure Services with a focus in Park Management. Remember Dr. Busbee once telling students (approximate year 2000) that the United States Postal Service might not be a good career choice for students after graduation. I scoffed at this idea at first because I had grown-up hearing that government jobs had great benefits. Dr. Busbee informed students that there was a growing use of digital communications through email. He said that there would be less mail in the future. He was right. As you already know there are rumors that the U.S. Postal Service is going to stop delivering mail on Saturdays. This may seem like a minor move to save money, but I’m certain that many positions will be cut in this process.

I pay over 95% of my bills online today. Most days I don’t receive any mail at all. Occasionally I’ll order a book from Amazon and will have a package at my door. However, I’ll be ordering fewer hardcover and paperback books now that I have an Amazon kindle and will be able to download books wirelessly and instantly anytime I want. Again, that may not be a good thing for people who crave instant gratification. Have set a limit to only 2-3 digital books per month.

Morales: Prepare for the future. Save money.

U.S. Senator is 92-years-old.

I've been posting several blog entries on people working in the elderly years.

Realize that many recreational therapists work with the elderly. This is fast growing population in the U.S.

Recently posted about a 100-year-old physician and a 102-year-old judge who were both still working.

Believe that keeping active in a job that a person truly loves could be a secret to longevity.

Robert C. Byrd is the senior senator from West Virginia. He’s worked with every U.S. President since Harry S. Truman.

Byrd is not only the eldest senator at the time; he is the longest-serving congressman in history. Byrd was elected to an unprecedented 9th term in the senate.

Please note that, I, Danny Pettry, am not advocating for any political views at my blog. I am point out people who are still working in their senior years.

Here is a short youtube video on Byrd:

I, Danny Pettry had won one of the 8 Peg Connolly Scholarship awards in 2004 while I was a graduate student in Recreational Therapy. I had an opportunity to go to the conference which was in Kansas City, Missouri that year. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet many recreational therapists across the United States and around the world. I still keep in touch with many of these people today by email.

Books for Children

“Read to succeed and become anything you want” is one of my personal mottos.

It was also the basis for my first self-improvement book, “Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom. Basically, I believe wisdom his hidden in books, but a person must be an avid reader to discover these secrets.

Heard some depressing news today about the closing of a bookstore. My parents take little mini-trips from time-to-time. Today they left their hometown of Beckley, W.Va. to visit the Mercer Mall in Princeton, W.Va. Mother informed me that the bookstore in the mall had closed. That is terribly sad. Feel very upset about this news. How can a mall not have a bookstore?

There is a growing trend in the closing of bookstores in my home state of West Virginia based on my experiences:

The Beckley, W.Va. Crossroads Mall once had two bookstores. Now it only has one.
The Kanawha City, W.Va. Kanawha Mall once had a bookstore, but it has been closed.
The Charleston, W.Va. Town Center Mall once had two bookstores, both of them have been closed, but they now have a Borders-express.
The Barboursville, W.Va. Huntington Mall once had two bookstores: a Waldenbooks and a Borders bookstore. Believe they closed the Waldenbooks when Borders bought at Walden.

Believe West Virginia is a place that needs more access to books. Think people could improve their lives by reading more.

There are still a few positive places that people in the state can get books.
Many people are also ordering books online at places like Amazon.com. Many people are reading electronic books online. People can still get books at places like Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, however, the selection is limited. These places only carry current best-sellers based on what I’ve seen. Some people download books to electronic devise like the Amazon-Kindle, which I use and enjoy.

The non-profit First Book provides free books to children in need addressing literacy. They say at their web-site that children’s literacy can be improved by providing children with access to age-appropriate books.

Found a wonderful web-site today. It was recommended to me on facebook. Places like facebook send selected ads targeted to people’s interest and demographic. As a booklover, an interesting page was suggested to me today.

It’s called Children’s Book of the Month Club.

One of my 2010 goals is to buy a new book for my nephew Gage (3-years-old) each month of the year.

In January I got him, 5 little monkey’s jumping on a bed.
In February I got him a little Einstein Book.
In March I got him 10 Happy Puppies.

Think I’m going to join the children’s book of the month club. Will have to look at the prices to determine which would be more affordable between them and Amazon.com, which I currently use to get Gage books.

Here is the link toe the Children’s Book Club so you can check it out too:

Ohio River Festival of Books is April 10-17

The Ohio River Festival of Books is April 10-17, 2010.

There are tons of activities throughout the week.

Please join me at the Huntington Library on April 10th for the kickoff for this event.

I’ll be there signing copies of my best-selling book, “Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom” as well two of my other books, “Wisdom Revealed: The Self-Improvement Journal,” and “Magical Spellbinding Quotes for Motivation (Volume II).

You’ll get $5 off of my best-selling book at the festival.
All people who attend this event can enter a contest for a chance to win a free copy of Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom.

At 6:30 p.m., best-selling author Jeanette Walls, author of The Glass House, will be giving a keynote speech for the festival and she’ll release her new book, Half-Broken Horses. I’m a big fan of Walls.

Of course, I’ll be going to join Beau Smith at the Huntington Museum of Art for a gallery walk which will highlight roughly 30 of the works from Mr. Smith’s collection of comic book illustrations. Mr. Smith has been collecting comic book art for over two decades.

Another event that I’ll be attending is on Wed. April 14th at Marshall University’s Drinko Library. Professor Jean Edward Smith author of the best-selling book, FDR, will be presenting. President Obama was reportedly reading Smith’s FDR during the he was president-elect. Smith is working on a new biography of Dwight Eisenhower, which will be released in 2010. Smith skipped my favorite past U.S. President. As you’ll recall from my book, Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom, it was Harry Truman.

His work has been recognized through professional awards, and his book, Discover Secret Hidden Wisdom, brings the tools he has acquired through his practice into focus for everyone-providing insight into how to live a successful life.

That sounds important. However, I am much more humble and down to Earth, I mean, West Virginia.

World Peace and Doomsday Valt.

As you probably already know, I'm an idealist and a humanitarian.

Some people think I’m naive to believe in the words of Anne Frank,

“Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart” and “how wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single second before starting to improve the world.”

Use these two quotes for my own life mission statement.

Read online about some people doing something to improve the world. Norway has created a doomsday vault. It is a collection of seeds in case doomsday occurs.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100311/ap_on_re_eu/eu_norway_doomsday_vault

Hope we’ll never have to use it, but like life insurance, it feels good to know it is there just in case.

Hope that we the citizens of Earth don't destroy own own plant. Watched the movie Avatar. It was based in the future when all the resources on Earth had been depleted. It doesn't show Earth much in this sci-fi movie, but belive Earth is no longer green. That would be a sad day.

Glad to report that while working with my co-worker the dietician, I helped the children at our residential treatment facility to plant beans. She is teaching the children about healthy living. I'm going to use this project as horticulture therapy as a metaphor to help the children to compare their own personal growth to the their plants.

Be sure to plant something this spring. Make it a food crop so it will produce one day!

Book Lovers

Love books. They're wonderful.

Beleive that wisdom is hidden in books, but a person must be an avid reader to discver these secrets. That is how I got the name of my book, "Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom."

I can spend hours in Empire books in Huntington, Borders at the Huntington Mall, B&N in Chalreston, Books-a-Million in Ronaoke. These places are like gold mines. Full of wonderful treasure maps.

Book lovers need to know about the 10th annual West Virginia Book Fair.

It will be on Sat. Oct. 16th and Sun. Oct. 17th at the Charleston, West Virginia Civic Center. Admission to this event is FREE.

I’m going to send out a registration form for a booth this weekend! So, you’ll probably see me there.

Applied to be a presenter at this year’s fair too. If accepted, I’ll be giving a live one-hour presentation on how to self-publish a book.

Go here for info. on the W.Va. 10th Book Fair:

http://wvbookfestival.org/

I’ve self-published many books, including:

Magical Spellbinding Quotes for Motivation (Volume II) 2010.
Wisdom Revealed: The success journal (2009)
Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom (2009)
Magical Spellbinding Quotes for Motivation (Volume I) 2009.
Improve Your Coping Skills (2008)
The 30-Day Self-Discover Workbook (2007)
Lessons for Life and Leisure (2006)

Unconditional Approach to Helping

I Read the book, “Punished by Rewards: The Trouble with Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, A’s, Praise, and Other Bribes" by Social Psychologist Alfie Kohn during graduate school at Indiana University.

Here is am Amazon link for the book:

(Note, Recreational Therapists are often considered to be Applied Social Psychologists).

Believe this is a book that all Recreational Therapists should be required to read.

Kohn says that “Positive Rewards” and “Negative punishments” are just two sides of the same coin -- and the coin doesn't buy very much.”

Watch this video. Kohn points out that two studies show that rewarding children for good behavior makes them less generous.

In fact, why would a child share, be generous, or "do the behavior" when no adults are there to give them a reward for it. Hmm... that is something to think about.

Kohn’s biggest argument is that we should move away from the B. F. Skinner’s behavior model and move more towards a humanistic approach that includes unconditional care and education on reasoning. Believe this approach would be best myself.

Studies show that externally motivating a child destroys her internal motivation and creativity, which is the basis for Overjustification Theory.

Recently read Daniel Pink’s [author shown on Oprah] new (2010) book, “Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us.” Pink’s motivation theory argues that the Behaviorism model is Motivation 2.0. There is a newer, more effective motivation model called Motivation 3.0. Pink points out multiple scientific research studies that repeatedly show that both reward and punishment systems are not effective for lasting, long-term change.

Here is a video by Daniel Pink at the 2009 TED conference. He presents an amazing study on how rewards DO NOT work. This video is mind-shocking. Rewards do the opposite. They are counterproductive and research has shown this for over 40 years. Watch the full video here:

wow - did Pink say that rewards can actually cause harm? Yes, he did.

Here is an Amazon link for Pink's NEW book:

Finished reading Richard Wiseman's new (2009) book, "59 Seconds." In this book, he points out how positive compliments and praise does not work with children.

If you a tell a child she is smart, she'll avoid challenging tasks because she may fail at them and she'll los her self-identify of "being smart." However, if she picks an easier activity that she already knows, she's likely to do it right and be told she's good at doing it. In the long run positive praise can be un-effective. Wiseman says, instead, praise the child on her effort.

Here is a video for Wiseman talking about his new book:

Here is a link for Wiseman's new book:

IN SUMMARY, I Danny P., beleive that people working with children should move away from what B.F. Skinner's behavior modificiaion (b-mod) becuase it is counter-productive in the long run. Beleive we should move more towards an "Unconditional Approach to Helping Children.

What are you glad about today?

Taking time for real gratitude is a key to happiness.

Today’s journal question is: What are you grateful for?

Here is my list for today:

My mother, father, brother, sister, sister-in-law, Gage, my sister’s dog Izzy, my sister’s bf Matthew. I’m glad for my health. I’ve got good vision, good hearing, ability to walk, type, use my hands. I’m glad I have feet and hair on my head. I’m fortunate to be a good-looking male. There are several material things I’m glad about too: I have a computer, kindle, books, a bed, pillow, blankets, plants in my apartment, a television, and a few dvds. I’m so glad I live in America where I’m free. I’m glad I have a job helping children. I’m glad for my friends and co-workers and good food. I’m glad to live in West Virginia. It’s relatively safe state with low crime and very few natural disasters, except snow, which I appreciate the beauty of.

Take time to write a few things that you’re glad about today.

TR Directory - Career Opportunities

My good friend and mentor, Charlie Dixon, MS, CTRS, from Morgantown, West Virginia operate the Therapeutic Recreation Directory online.

His site is highly ranked among web-sites in the United States and the world. It’s highly ranked in my personal favorite web-pages.

Wanted to make sure you know about the career opportunities that are posted at the TR Directory.

Go to Dixon’s TR directory to view career opportunities and to post them here:

Rec Therapy Careers

Realized when I was 19-years-old (in 1999) that I wanted to be a Recreational Therapist.

Have worked as a Recreational thearpist for nearly 8-years now!

During my 2002 summer internship I felt worried about finding a job in the field. Applied at hundreds of hospitals. Got lucky and had an interview on the final day of my internship. The interview was at a different hospital and not the one where I completed my internship. Have been at this same job since then.

I understand that other students and people who read my e-newsletter could be seeking their dream position. Naturally, I post any Recreational Therapy or related careers at my blog.

Here are several careers that I found in my email today:

The problem with Rewarding Children

Some treatment facilities for children and youth use B. F. Skinners' behavior-modfication as a treatment.

I'm opposed to Skinnerism. Think it is awful and counterproductive to helping children with behavior problems.

I am more along the lines of other ideas, including:

Carl Rogers - Humansitic approach
Csíkszentmihályi and Seligman - Positive psychology

and various social psychologists. I enjoy books by Deci and Flaste and Daniel Pink's new book on motivation, Drive.

One of my favorite authors is Alfie Kohn. I'd like to share three links to Alfie Kohn's web-site that has interesting articles that I beleive all people working with children should read.

Here they are:

Here are some of the books by Alfie Kohn:

No Contest: The Case Against Competition (Houghton Mifflin, 1986/1992)
You Know What They Say...: The Truth About Popular Beliefs (HarperCollins, 1990)
The Brighter Side of Human Nature: Altruism and Empathy in Everyday Life (Basic Books, 1990)
Punished by Rewards: The Trouble with Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, A's, Praise, and Other Bribes (Houghton Mifflin, 1993/1999)
Beyond Discipline: From Compliance to Community (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, 1996/2006)
What To Look For In A Classroom... And Other Essays (Jossey-Bass, 1998)
The Schools Our Children Deserve: Moving Beyond Traditional Classrooms and "Tougher Standards" (Houghton Mifflin, 1999)
The Case Against Standardized Testing: Raising the Scores, Ruining the Schools (Heinemann, 2000)
What Does It Mean To Be Well Educated? And More Essays on Standards, Grading, and Other Follies (Beacon Press, 2004)
Unconditional Parenting: Moving from Rewards and Punishments to Love and Reason (Atria Books, 2005)

Public Announcement: My personal goal.

Have been reading an amazing book on my kindle.

It’s called, “59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot” by Richard Wiseman.

Here is the product description:
Richard Wiseman has been troubled by the realization that the self-help industry often promotes exercises that destroy motivation, damage relationships, and reduce creativity: the opposite of everything it promises. Now, in 59 Seconds, he fights back, bringing together the diverse scientific advice that can help you change your life in under a minute, and guides you toward becoming more decisive, more imaginative, more engaged, and altogether more happy. From mood to memory, persuasion to procrastination, resilience to relationships, Wiseman outlines the research supporting the new science of “rapid change” and, with clarity and infectious enthusiasm, describes how these quirky, sometimes counterintuitive techniques can be effortlessly incorporated into your everyday life. Or, as he likes to say: “Think a little, change a lot.”

Here are my comments:

There is so much wisdom in this one little book. It’s no wonder his name is WISEman. Believe this will be in my personal list of top 100 favorite books. He reviews what self-help authors say in their books and then looks at what scientific researches have to say. Real motivation and change is discussed in his book. Several important social psychology experiences are discussed, too. My advisor in graduate school, Dr. David Austin (a foundering member of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association) said that his graduate advisor referred to those of us in recreational therapy as “applied social psychologists.” Social psychology is one of my favorite fields. And Wiseman writes about social psychology, positive psychology and other related topics in an easy-to-read form.

Here is one of Wiseman’s tips. Make your personal goals public. People who do so are more likely to meet their goals. It’s like positive social/ peer pressure. Your peers will provide you with support in reaching your goal. Plus, once you’ve said you’re going to do it, they’ll be more likely to help hold you accountable.

So here it is, my BIG audacious 2010 GOAL: Write a book on “techniques for becoming nice” and have it become a #1 Amazon.com best-seller!
That is my goal. I’ve completed 3/10 chapters and no editing. The full outline for the book has been created.

Masaru Emoto - Global Forum

Dear friend,

As you already know, I'm an avid fan of Masaur Emoto. I had written about how his research on water had a big impact on my life in my recent best-selling book, "Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom."

Here is an email that I received today:

Message from Masaru Emoto, Author of
"Message from Water"Announcement of "Water & Peace"

Global Forum 2010 at Lake Biwa
March 20-22, 2010
Biwako Hall, Otsu City, Shiga, Japan

http://www.masaru-emoto.net/english/lake-biwa/main.html

To Those Whose Body Is Mainly Composed Of WATER:

I am Masaru Emoto, a missionary of water and an author of "Message from Water" and "The Hidden Messages in Water."

Recently, many forums and conferences have been organized with water asits main theme. Yet, most of them are focusing only the physical aspectof water.

However, in addition to the physical body, we have the mind (and spirit). We have learned from water itself, through "Message from Water", thatwater is not only essential to our body but also it has an intimaterelationship to our mind.

In other words, water is the mirror to reflect our mind.As a matter of fact, we believe that the abnormal weather conditionssuch as floods and droughts and natural disasters like tsunamis andearthquakes are caused by the pollution of water on Earth, which inturn is ultimately brought by the distortion and disharmony in ourmind, thoughts and emotions.

Other serious problems in politics, economy, education, medicine andso on are also concerned with the mind of our collective consciousness, and therefore it can be said that water is ultimately involved in allof those problems.

Don't you think that we can take a step toward the solution of thesewater-related problems by considering the aspect of water which isconnected with our mind, thoughts and emotions?

For this purpose, we have decided to hold "Water & Peace" Global Forum2010 at Lake Biwa, Mother Lake in Japan, on March 20 to 22 (March 22 isthe World Water Day declared by the United Nations).

Musicians and artists who understand water deeply will perform theirmusic, dance and art.

World‐famous Scientists and spiritual leaders such as KonstantinKorotkov, Eric Pearl and Lynne McTaggart will give us a special lectureand demonstration.

Especially, Konstantin and Lynne will organize several live experimentsthat will scientifically prove that our consciousness affects water.

There will be also a lecture on a completely novel method to extractenergy from liquid water by a Japanese researcher Ryushin Ohmasa.

Religious leaders with a tight connection with myself such as MasterChin Kung and Lin Hsien-Tsung will support this Forum verysignificantly.

At the closing ceremony, all the participants will pray for the waterof Lake Biwa and the whole world with our sincere Love and Gratitudeat the closing ceremony in the presence of Shintoism priests andBuddhism monks.

The energy of our Love and Gratitude will be amplified and expandedby the power of the Golden Pyramid of Peace, which is presented by ourco-organizer Gudni Gudnason, and carried to every corner of this planet.

This will be the world's first Water Forum of this kind with "Water &Peace" as its main theme. After this Forum, our consciousness towardwater will be elevated significantly, and the water on this planetwill be changed completely and become crystal clear!

There will be a new vortex of energy, like a pair of dragon gods, emerging from Lake Biwa to create a world of Truth and Great Harmony.

According to the latest news, we will be honored by the presence ofPrincess Martha Louise of Norway at the Forum. Also, SergeyViktorovich Lavrov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, willsend us his official message regarding this Forum.

Would you please join us in this Forum and become one of those whoco-create this historical moment?

If, unfortunately, you could not come to Lake Biwa and attend thisForum directly, we would really appreciate if you could send us adonation to show your intention that you agree with the purpose ofthis Forum and support this Forum financially.

For each one of you who have made a donation, we will prepare a bottleof water with your name on it and put it under the Golden Pyramid ofPeace during the ceremony so that the amplified energy of Love andGratitude will come to you through the water.

We would be grateful if you could send your prayer of Love and Gratitude to Water on March 22 simultaneously with our prayer ceremonyin the Forum.

You will experience by yourself the energetic connection of Love andGratitude through the water with you.

In addition, if you are interested in spreading the Truth of Water tothe general public, we strongly recommend you to attend theInternational HADO Instructor School which will be held on March 23and 24 at Lake Biwa and learn the Secret of Water directly from myself.

We are also honored that Princess Martha Louise of Norway kindlyaccepted our request to become one of the lecturers in this School.

This will be an extremely rare opportunity for you to learn HADO andspirituality from Princess Martha Louise.

Those who have already taken this School in the past are welcome as arepeater with half price.

Request to you:

It would be greatly appreciated if you could transfer this e-mail tothose people who will be interested in this world's first Water Forum.

Also, we would be very happy if you could submit this e-mail to BBS or quote in your BLOG. Thank you in advance.

Arigato.

With Love and Gratitude

Missionary of Water

What is your favorite web-page?

Okay, Monday's journal question at my blog is never on Monday. The first time I had written it - it was on a Tue with the goal of doing them on a Monday.

So, beleive it would be fair to give this a "Tue Journal Question" lable or even a "Journaling ideas" lable. However, we'll keep it as it is for the fun of it.

Asked my facebook friends what are some of their favotite web-sites...

Mine: blogspot, selfgrowth, amazon, cnn, youtube, of course facebook, recreationtherapy.com

enjoy these web-sites.

Judge is 102.

Feel like I read about a person reading 102-years-old almost daily.

There are about 70,000 Americans who are in the 100 and older age group.

Believe this is a rapidly growing age-group.

Read today about a 102-year-old lawyer who shows up to work every day. His name is Wesley Brown. Think that keeping active by working is one key to living longer. A few days ago I had posted about a physician who was still going to work every day who is in his 100s.

Ron Sylvester with the Witchita newspaper site a study that said:
People who live to 100 and beyond exercise their brains, too, by reading, painting, and playing musical instruments

Getting a 3-year-old to read!

Gage is my one and only nephew. He is very important to me. Hope is becomes an avid reader because I beleive secret wisdom is hidden in books, but a person must be an avid reader to discover these secrets. As you already know from my best-selling book, Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom, I admit that I didn't read a full book until my senior year in high school (in 1998). Since then I've read every book I can on self-improvement, success, motivation, and inspiration.

Naturally, I know the importance of reading. I want Gage to be an avid reader, too.

One of my 2010 goals is to buy Gage a new book each month of the year. In Jan. 2010 I had purchased in "5 Little Monkeys." In Feb. 2010, I purchased him a "Little Einstein book."

Sent an email to my mother (Gage's grandmother) who has been reading to him.

Mother replied back today.

Here is what she had to say in an email:

Dear Son,

I am sure Gage will love the book. I read the 5 Little Monkeys book
again today.

At the end Gage says, "No more monkeys jumping on the beak! I then
say not beak, it's bed and he laughs like it's the funniest thing he has ever
said. We do this all through the book. I am also trying to get him
to read monkey and bed. It will come soon because he is so smart. He
loves that book.

Talk to you
tonight.

Love,

Mom
