Book promotion is a hard business for a new author. Few people follow my personal blog. About 1,000 recreational therapists subscribe to my e-newsletter.
Having someone famous mention a book can boost its recognition in a heartbeat.
Any book Oprah recommends becomes an instant best-seller.
Sent copies of my book to several famous people as a gift for the New 2010 Year!
Copies of the book are being sent to:
1.) First Lady, Michelle Obama
2.) Former First Lady, Laura Bush
3.) Jenny McCarthy
4.) Gretchen Rubin – author of The Happiness Project
5.) Bryony/ Paperlilies – YouTube sensation –
6.) Ellen DeGeneres
Plan to send the book to Oprah eventually. Don’t feel ready to do so yet.
Here is the basic letter that was sent to each of them. Of course, the introduction and conclusion of the letter had different parts that were individualized to the person.

Dear Former First Lady Laura Bush,
You’re an avid reader who loves books. Thought you’d enjoy a copy of my book as a gift for the New 2010 Year. Hope you enjoy it. Think you will.
Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom is a self-improvement book for adolescents and young adults. Purpose of the book is to promote literacy and reading because many people never read another book again after high school. Many more never read one after college. Believe avid reading is the way people can become selffulfilled and successful in life.
Jim Rohn, the late motivational speaker who passed away in Dec. 2009 often said, “The book you don’t read won’t help you.” Mark Twain had said, “The person who won’t read has no advantage over the person who can’t read.” Former President Abraham Lincoln said, “My best friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read.” Former President Harry Truman had read every book from his hometown Independence, Missouri Library. You, Laura Bush, have read many books, too.
Portion of the profits made from Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom goes to First Book. They’re a non-profit charity that provides new books to children in need addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 65 million free and low cost books in thousands of communities.
Please help promote the importance or reading and literacy as our Former First Lady. Feel free to tell people about the book, Discover Hidden Secret Wisdom and the non-profit charity, First Book. Thanks in advance.
Yours truly,
Danny Pettry
