Jaycee Dugard kept a journal. Was it therapeutic?

Jaycee Dugard had been kidnapped and sexually abused for years. She is a person who I care about. Hope she has a better life.

Have provided recreational therapy services for children ages 7 to 12 who’ve been abused for the last 7.5 years. Feel passionate about this type of work. Interested in Jaycee’s story and how she has survived.

CNN reported that Jaycee had kept a journal during this time. Believe that her journal may have been a therapeutic tool to help her survive during this time.

James Pennebaker has an interesting book called, “Opening Up,” which discusses the healing benefits for keeping a journal about thoughts and feelings.

Some of her journal comments were posted on CNN. Jaycee had written about thoughts and feelings as evidenced by statements like, “I feel like I am sinking.”

It still angers me a lot that the abusers had done this to her. Hope she gets the treatment and services she needs to help her heal.

Danny P., here again. I received this email from Todd with the Jaycee Dugard Trust Fund. As you already know, I'm a big fan of Jaycee. I admire that she did what she could to survive and raise her two daughters.

It has come to our attention that there are mistaken beliefs that Jaycee has received “millions” in compensation from various sources such as book deals, magazine photo shoots, or through television interviews. Unfortunately, this is simply not the case and these rumors continue to circulate throughout the internet. For privacy reasons we cannot get into too many financial details. However, suffice it to say, Jaycee, her two daughters and her immediate family are still very much in need of financial donations to assist them in this long and presumably difficult journey ahead of them. Unfortunately, the financial donations have not come in quite as expected.

We are asking for your assistance to help alleviate some of the financial concerns for Jaycee and her family, especially during this holiday season, which is especially meaningful for Jaycee and her family.

Jacyee Dugard had been kidnapped for 18-years. Jacyee’s abuser had fathered her two daughters: Angel (15) and Starlet (11).

Today, I read on Yahoo News that a therapist is using horse-back riding for Jaycee and her two daughters to help reintegrate them back into society. I'm very interested in learning more.

I’m aware that recreational therapists use horses for therapy a.k.a.“hippo therapy” in rehab to systematically help a person to gain mobility, balance, and posture. In general people are excited and enthusiastic about this recreational approach. However, it is obvious that it can be used in mental health for different goals.

Jacyee Dugard (age 29 now) is featured on the cover of the current People magazine. There is a 10-page article about her. I’m going to read it. I have a lot of empathy for Jaycee and her two children. I wish them the best and hope for them to have a happy and successful future.

As a recreational therapist, I provide services for children (ages 8 to 12) who’ve been abused at a residential treatment facility in one of the two Virginias. So, naturally, I'm interested in learning more.
