As you already know, driving safe can add years to your life.
I’m driving from Huntington, West Virginia to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Of course, I’ve heard that a person is more likely to get in an automobile accident compared to a plan crash. I still prefer driving and I enjoy it.
I mostly listened to self-improvement and inspirational CDs on my journey. I listened to National Public Radio for about 20-minutes. They said that there is one benefit to a recession: people live longer. According to research: longevity was higher during years that the economy was in recession. Why? They’re not certain. One possible reason is that people are driving less -- therefore the number of automobile accidents is far fewer.
I do my best to drive safe. It’s the law, but I do so because I care about people. I understand that by driving safe I’m keeping others safe. I don’t know if I could live with myself if I were the cause of an accident that hurt someone else.
Overall, based on my observations, other people were driving safe and being cautious, too during my trip. Drivers here in Illinois (where my Holiday Inn is located) were considerate. I’m out out-of-state driver. Traveling roads I’ve never been on can cause some confusion even with the GPS. I almost made a wrong turn and a driver was considerate enough to slow and let me back over. I appreciate that.
Remember to always drive safe. -- It can add years to your life and buckle-up, too.
P.S. It's 9:32 a.m. I'm on the 7th floor of a Holiday Inn. Illinois is a flat state. I can see so far away. It is nice to travel, but I know I'll always belong in the mountains of West Virginia.
