Dr. Norma Stumbo is one of the founders of modern therapeutic recreation practice (at least according to me). She’s the author of Therapeutic Recreation: Program and Design among others. Of course she has way too many accomplishments to list here. She's done a lot in the advancement of the profession.
Here's an amazon link for my favorite book by Dr. Stumbo:
I’m glad to say that I’m friends with her on facebook.
Normal shared a very interesting youtube video today in a facebook post.
Here it is for your entertainment:
There’s are two very interesting question featured at the end of the video.
It asks:
“What might be a good use of your leisure time?
Will you let time slip away or will you use it well?”
I encourage you to post a comment to answer these questions here.

I recommend that for a person to have a well-balanced mix of leisure interests. Their activities should include some from each of these categories: social, physical, cognitive, and spiritual. Of course, some activities will overlap several of these categories.
ReplyDeleteHere are my personal leisure interests:
Reading, writing, journaling, blogging, shopping, traveling, web-site design, painting, doodling, walking, enjoying nature, photography with digital camera (to upload pictures for my web-site hobby), spending time with family and friends, eating at nice restaurants, watching basketball and football games, coffee and conversation, meditation, visiting parks, boat riding, and volunteering. I love the internet too. I don’t particularly like fishing. I do enjoy going on the boat with my father.
Sometimes I'll hear people say, "I'm bored." I fee like I don't have enough time in life to be bored. There are so many things to do. I even have checklists for my hobbies and interests.
