Pumpkin house in West Virginia.

Kenova is a small town in the most western point of West Virginia. It got its name: “Ken-O-Va” from the tri-state area: Kentucky, Ohio, and (formerly) Virginia, (present day) West Virginia.

Kenova, West Virginia is wedged between the Big Sandy River and the Ohio River. Kentucky is on the other side of the Big Sandy and Ohio is on the other side of the Ohio River. Here’s one more fun fact. The Ohio River that borders Ohio and West Virginia actually belongs to the state of West Virginia.

Kenova is known for a couple of things. It’s the hometown of contemporary Christian singer, Michael W. Smith. And of course, I, [Danny Pettry] currently reside in Kenova. Please laugh aloud at that comment. But, it’s also known for the “Pumpkin House.”

Thousands and thousands of jack-o-lanterns are carved each year by the Griffin family who lives in Kenova. They decorate their house with these pumpkins to celebrate Halloween. People travel from far distances to see this amazing house. It’s a great event for the community. People get together and talk. They have a wonderful time. People can buy cups of hot chocolate (at least I think) and enjoy the house.

I, [Danny Pettry] live about five blocks away from it. I took a leisurely autumn walk today with my camera to get a few pictures. As suspected, the Griffin family was busy carving pumpkins because Halloween is only six days away!
Here are a few of my pictures of the Pumpkin House
and surrounding areas for your enjoyment:

Question: What would you like to be known for?

Would you like to be the best or at least most known for a certain hobby or collection?

If so, post your answer in the comment section below...
